Persepolis is undoubtedly one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. It is located north of Marvdasht, 57 kilometers from Shiraz. Formed on the mountain of mercy (Kuh-e Rahmat), Persepolis was the capital of the Achaemenes Empire built by Darius I (520 BC) and classified by UNESCO since 1979. This great historical site has an eclectic set of Structures, including monumental stairs, impressive reliefs and imposing footbridges.
