New Year's Day or Nowruz begins when the sun passes to the vernal point (spring equinox). All Iranians begin to clean their homes at least three weeks before Nowruz and buy new clothes for the whole family. On the occasion of the New Year each family prepares a haft-sin (literally the seven S) ; Seven objects whose Persian names begin with the letter s are placed on a table beside the goldfish, a mirror and a copy of the Koran. These festivals occupy the first thirteen days of the year.
During this period, everyone wears new clothes and visits his family.
In every house, all kinds of sweets are prepared.
Finally, the thirteenth day is the day of nature and each family will pass it to the country.
